Christmas Morning

Another year goes by as does another Christmas! Kids had a blast this month with all sorts of holiday parties and having a good 'ol time with friends and family, what matters most to us! Just wish we could be at all our families homes at one time, but that's just not possible! Have a great one, we sure did!

Happy Birthday Brady!

The thumbs up says it all! A new bike for his birthday! He has graduated to a full on 20" people! He loves it, he has been racing all over the court everyday!

Here he is taking a hard turn off the sidewalk into the street! Yes, those are his PJ bottoms!

Another super cool gift was a can of black olives from his cousins: Ryley and Sean! Great sense of humor!

Getting ready for Christmas

The lights went up last weekend, as well as the tree and the indoor decorations! Every year the kids seem to get more and more excited about Christmas, which is a great and fun for them. Its relatively fun for Melis and I as well. Its for the kids right!?!

We also have our yearly tradition of mailing out some 80 letters to our family and friends. Now this process is alot of work. From getting just the right picture, printing it, updating the addresses, placing the return and recipient labels on the envelopes, then printing the letters, folding the letters, getting the folded letters in the envelopes, oh...stamps too and finally, getting them to the post office! The picture above is what a 5 and 4 year old will do with 100 envelopes, of course, make a huge trail in the house! Enjoy the letters because we love doing them, contrary to what it might seem like a pain!

Fall means leaves falling, which means more leaves

With all the leaves on the ground this morning, we thought it would be cool to rack them up into one huge pile and get in the pile for a few pictures. The kids worked together to make a biggest pile of leaves.."EVAH!" as Drew says! Enjoy the shots, it only happens in Fall baby!

I got the ladder out and got way up there with hopes of getting better shots! May not be the best shots ever, but the process was fun and the kids sure thought it was fun trying the hit me!

Drew's training pays off at the race!

Alrighty, so the kids races are informal as they can be, but I will say this...Drew got a fourth place and was the first girl in her age bracket! That's pretty cool folks! She got her much awaited
medal for her efforts! We're proud of her! Brady decided not to race but was there with the bell to cheer his little sister along with Mommy!

There she goes about mid way thru the race! She pedaled super hard in the section to get up to the boys who had more pull in the grass section!

Here she is ready to start the sprint for the first turn! She looked ready to go!

Derek & Drew take a bike ride!

Today Derek and Drew took a long bike ride, by Drew's standards of course, along the American River Bike trail! We put in a total of 10.5 miles, with two pee stops and Powerbar breaks! This girls has the "it" factor! She tried to drop Derek on several occasions..better check yourself g-girl! But I promise in a few years if she continues, that wont be an issue! I love you Drew and you rock my world!

The two dorky cyclist being "normal!"

Note the leg warmers...they are actually Derek's arm warmers! What does that mean? Skinny arms or big legs? Dont know, but the idea worked and she was happy and warm!

Halloweeeeeeeen!!!!!!!!!

For the past few years we have had a little tradition of Didi coming over and having a fun dinner, and getting the kids in costumes for Halloween. This year was no different; Brady was Woody from Toy Story and Drew, Aurora, a Disney princess. While we were out, Didi passed out candy. However, we think that Brady and Drew enjoyed passing out the candy more than getting candy. So the second half of the night was pretty fun with friends coming over to get their dose of candy! Thanks for the pizza Didi!

Not that anyone is keeping score...nahhhhh! BEARS WIN!

BEARS WIN!
That's right! 2-1 was the final unofficial score since the leagues doesn't keep score! The kids had a great game each. Brady is an awesome lil back while Drew is a total forward and will soon score!

Halloween was fun last night! Didi came by with pizza before hand, the kids got dressed and off they went!

The night started
off slowly but it
eventually picked
and we even had familiar
faces knock at the door!

A slow yet busy Sunday
with loads of cleaning,
49ers vs. Colts game and
a ton of photo editing!

Baaaack to the grind!

After a week off from soccer practice
and games, we got back on the train!
We had a great week of school for the
kids. Melissa attended Brady's class for
a day and helped out in his class. On
Friday, Melissa took Drew on her
pre-school field trip to the pumpkin
patch while Derek had another
Physical Education lesson for Brady's
class and his teacher's partner's class.
Both Brady and Drew also killed the
homework. They love to get home and
get busy with their assignments and
they always want to do more. Can't wait
to see if they will feel the same in 10 years.
This weekend we put up our Halloween
decorations in the front of the house to
lighten up the festivities for the upcoming
weekend and Trick-or-Treating! CANDY!

Its homework time at the house!

Every weekday afternoon, Brady and Drew spend time on the kitchen table doing homework. Brady gets his homework packet and begins on his daily assignments, while Drew works out of a Pre-K book working on counting and tracing letters and numbers. They have both enjoyed doing their work and are learning quite a bit in the process. They have learned to read as well and Brady's reading is also helping Drew move along. By the time Drew gets to kinder, she'll be rocking and Brady will be her tutor eventually!

Discovery Kingdom turned Nut Tree!

This Friday afternoon we decided to get the kids in the car after school and head down to Vallejo for an afternoon at Discovery Kingdom. But when we arrived, we noticed it was empty, as we approached the front gate we saw the dreaded sign, "CLOSED!" So we turned around, with kids in good spirits, and drove back to Vacaville to enjoy The Nut Tree. The kids got on the carousel, the train and enjoyed a few other kid friendly activities. Then we had a yummy dinner and ice cream and headed home! All in all, a great time was had regardless of location, that's juts how the Novaes' roll baby!

Drew saw the "alligayta" while riding the train and yep, she got to ride the carousel on the "alligayta!"

Hey now, look, its Mommy and Daddy in the same picture! Pretty rare around here, so save it!

Thats the train conductor! Thats right! The kids wanted a picture with him, so here it is!

The first ever see-saw for Brady and Drew, and guess what? They loved it and went back for more!

How lucky did we get?

Sometimes we forget what life is all about! Yet everyday our most precious moments in life are the ones that just happen! This moment was caught by Melissa a few days back! We love them and they love each other!

Busy weekend here at the house! Soccer game, grocery shopping, long bike ride, mowing, car washing, 49er game & Formula 1 race(both on TV), walks, yummy meals, laundry and cool weather! Life is good!

Brady the "Goleiro!"

Due to Drew's chin being busted, she sat out of the game. However, Brady made up the difference on the field! He was everywhere, playing forward, back in the defense and he even played goalkeeper for the first time! As you can see, he was ready and watching the ball!

Drew crashes and this time gets stiches!

Last Wednesday morning Drew took a spill on her bike in the court and went down hard. So hard that she opened up her chin and blood was everywhere! A couple of hours later she was getting 5 stiches! She was out of her soccer practice and her game on saturday. Yesterday the stiches were removed and she made Daddy proud by getting back up on her bike and riding just where she crashed; however, this time she didnt cut the curn and was a little slower than normal! I wish I could say shes like Daddy, but I can't, I got my first stiches at 35. Oh boy!

Drew would like to thank Mommy for being there for her and Brady for being a great big brother. Dr. Nunna for giving her the stiches and Daddy for taking time off work and meeting her at the hospital!

More Soccer Pictures!

Second week of soccer was much better than the first! The basic concept of direction and purpose(ball in goal!) is coming around. Brady is for sure a defender and Drew a forward. The coach thought it would cool to drop Drew in goal...that proved to be a costly move, she let three go by! Drew didn't get Daddy's keeper skills that's for sure!

Jogadores de futebol!

Busy times over here! With school routines and drop offs in the morning, work, pick ups, homework, riding/workout schedules and now soccer...updating the blog and getting pictures out has been challenging! Dont get me wrong, we're by no means an over-achieving family always running around, we do get down time and we enjoy it!

Last weekend the kids played their first soccer game, ie. see ball! run to ball! Kids seem to be enjoying the time, no clue as to what they are doing, but they laugh and smile.

Drew tents to be more of a "attacante" and Brady more of a defensive type player, which would be a reflection of their personalities to say the least!

Melis has been working hard while at home and doing amazing things while at home! Super Mom Melissa! She rocks!

Derek has been working lots and getting used to the new routine. The cycling season is coming to an end this weekend in Chico. Its also Grandma's one year anniversary, so the race will be in her honor.

Drew's First Day at Pre-School

Some really busy Wednesdays around here, last week Brady started Kinder, today Drew started Kinder Kids at Pre-school, so next year its on to Kindergarten for her also! The girl has style folks! Her sparkly shoes matched her sparkly shirt by the way!

Excited to be back with her friends and ready to learn!

My gosh this girl has grown! Daddy's little girl has sure grown up this summer! Just great, now I have two awesome girls in my life!

Speaking of awesome girls, there they are: Melissa and Drew! The girls spent a lot of time together this summer and I think they grew ever closer, can you believe that!?!?

Drew Crashes!

You know, I can't sit here and only post great things! Accidents happen here too! Here's a pic of Drew just after she went off the curb in the court! She was pretty ticked off, but when she found out that Daddy was taken "pic-chas" that pissed her off even more! The funny thing, an hour later she asked the see the "pic-cha," then laughed at herself! What an awesome girl!

Winters Road Race

Last weekend was a big race for our team. We had some 10 guys riding in a group of 50. The goal, get a couple of teammates in the lead and let them do the work! I had spend hours on a bike, and 775 miles preping for this race. Believe it or not, the hard work paid off! I raced up the hill and broke the field up and made life easier for the guys on the team, which resulted in a 3rd and 6th. As for my result, not sure, guessing somewhere around 20-30th, my body broke down some 15 miles from the finish, but pure stuborness and the fact that I had spent so much time getting ready for this race, I was gonna finish this SOB. The hardest race ever for me, but I did my job as promised!

Thanks to Nick O. for the pic and the water bottles and coke! Youre a brother!

Brady goes to Kindergarten!

Holy cow our lil recycler boy is growing up! Brady had his first day of Kindergarten yesterday and he made it with flying colors! He was a lil tired at the end of the 5 hour day, struggled with opening his lunch and the button on his shorts. Otherwise, he pulled thru and had a great time, no emotional outbursts whatsoever.

Drew was very supportive of her big brother and she was proud of Brady for "doing things on his own," as she stated the night before while crying.

So proud of you Brady!
